Never fading out

September 11, 2009 § 6 Comments

Shall we pick the trail
upon the dusted crumbs
or let the time choke
on our crimson hopes

And shall we burn the wick
till the dawn glows
or take the night bare
in its charcoal brows

Did we even stay
by the steady stead
or were parched away
as were the lower creed

And the time, that was
and the moments, which were
Can we tip the dust
and look the past ember?

For though ere the journey chokes
and we lead with parched throats
The rank and file, caravan
With the trail of vacant hopes

Yet the lights, north-wards shine
Blue, bright and green, emerald
And the gypsy-lust entwined
With the imprint of left lengths

And so though the journey chokes
Yet the distances never end
And the distant lights, ever bright
Never fade out of our sights

  • M. M. says:

    According to Karen Armstrong, “A species of poetry, which, read quickly or encountered in a hubbub of noise, makes no senes. You’ve to open yourself to a poem with a quiet, receptive mind, in a same way as you might listen to a difficult piece of music. It’s no good trying to a late Beethoven quartet or read a sonnet by Rilke at a party. You’ve to give it your full attention, wait impatiently upon it, and make a space for it in your mind. And finally the work declares itself to you, steals deeply into the interstices of your being, line-by-line, note-by-note, phrase-by-phrase, until it becomes a part of you.”

    Right now, I’m unable to give your poem the attention it deserves. I’ll do so ASAP (:

    Lol, didn’t understand a word of it, to be honest. Would read it again when my head is clear :P

    If I try to conceal whole poem in a single phrase then:

    Yeh dunya aur dunya ke sari cheezain bay-sabaat !

    @M.M
    I am waiting :)

    @Anas
    It was a strange streak of thought – with that certain flavor of personal feelings. So I won’t mind if others won’t comprehend it :)

    @Haroon
